(B,D) Day 6: Glacier National Park This morning your destination is the heart of Glacier National Park, the Crown of the Continent. The excitement begins as you board a 1930’s Red Jammer Touring Car for a ride showcasing the best of Glacier’s unique landscapes. The journey starts in the great cedar and hemlock forests that lie within the Lake McDonald Valley. Traverse the famed Going-to-the-Sun Road to the high alpine region of the park and stand on top of the Continental Divide. Discover incredible mountain ranges, glaciers, waterfalls, and wildflowers along the way as your Red Jammer glides along the glacially carved Garden Wall. Return to the resort for an evening at leisure. (B) Day 7: Flathead Lake - Missoula Depart the lodge this morning and begin your scenic journey south. Stop to enjoy a Flathead Lake Cruise where you will glide across remarkable crystal-clear waters while taking in sweeping panoramic views of the Mission and Swan mountain ranges. Maybe even catch a glimpse of Montana’s wildlife. Continue to Missoula, soaking in the ever-changing landscape along the way. This evening enjoy a Farewell Dinner at a local restaurant with your fellow travelers. (B,D) Day 8: Missoula - Flight Home Today transfer to the Missoula Airport and fly home filled with wonderful memories. (B) Note - For some June or September departures, the Going to the Sun Road may not be fully accessible due to the amount of snow. If this is the case, an alternate Red Jammer Car route will be substituted in Glacier National Park DAY 1: Arrive Missoula, MONTANA Arrive in Missoula, Montana, meet your Tour Director and transfer to your hotel. Missoula is a lively and picturesque city nestled at the confluence of three rivers and surrounded by rugged mountain ranges. Tonight enjoy a Welcome Dinner at the hotel as you get settled into Montana. (D) Day 2: Helena - gates of the mountains cruise - Great Falls This morning drive by the beautiful University of Montana campus and the beloved A Carousel for Missoula, a hand-carved masterpiece. Travel east where forested valleys give way to rolling plains. Later arrive in Montana’s capital city, Helena, and see the Montana State Capitol, an elegant building completed in 1902. Then visit Last Chance Gulch to grab a bite and wander the historical Main Street of downtown Helena, where 4 prospectors struck gold in 1864. Today this pedestrian friendly street features preserved Victorian-era architecture, breweries, shops, galleries and restaurants. Then take a short drive to enjoy the Gates of the Mountains Cruise, a two-hour narrated boat ride up the Missouri River through a canyon that features 1,200-foot limestone cliffs that appear to open and close as you cruise through. Lewis & Clark’s expedition made it upstream here in 1805, and they were so impressed by the cliffs that Lewis gave it the name “Gates of the Mountains”. Later arrive in Great Falls for a two-night stay. This vibrant city along the Missouri River offers a mix of rich Western history, thriving arts, and outdoor recreation. (B) Day 3: Lewis & Clark center - C.M. Russell Museum Today visit the exceptional Lewis & Clark Interpretive Center overlooking the Missouri River. This immersive museum tells the story of the Lewis & Clark expedition from beginning to end, including their arduous 33-day trek to portage the 5 waterfalls that gave the city its name. See one of the famous waterfalls just outside the center. Later visit the C.M. Russell Museum, dedicated to one of America’s most celebrated Western artists. Known as the “cowboy artist,” Russell’s vivid paintings and sculptures capture the spirit of the Old West from Native American life to frontier landscapes. (B) Day 4: Flathead valley - Grouse Mountain Lodge Today’s journey showcases Montana’s dramatic transition from prairie to alpine splendor as you travel west toward the breathtaking Flathead Valley. As the landscape shifts from wide-open plains to dense forests and glacially carved valleys, you’ll understand why Montana is called “Big Sky Country.” Arrive in the charming resort town of Whitefish and check in for a three-night stay at the Grouse Mountain Lodge, a premier mountain retreat located just 30 minutes from Glacier National Park. The lodge blends a rustic “Old West” vintage style with upscale comfort featuring an on-site restaurant, heated indoor pool, outdoor hot tubs, and sits directly on the Whitefish Lake Golf Course. Enjoy dinner at the lodge this evening with your fellow travelers. (B,D) Montana Explorer - Big Sky Country Booking Discount Savings* up to $200 per couple/ $100 per person
