Position Overview
As a Tour Director, you will serve as the face of Premier World Discovery, guiding groups on journeys across North America and around the globe. This role requires energy, professionalism, and strong leadership, as you ensure that every tour runs smoothly while engaging guests with insights, commentary, and personalized service.
Responsibilities
• Lead groups on multi-day domestic and international tours
• Deliver engaging commentary on history, culture, and destinations
• Manage daily logistics including hotel check-ins, group dining, and transportation
• Provide exceptional customer service and support to travelers of all ages
• Handle on-the-road problem solving with professionalism and efficiency
• Act as liaison between travelers, drivers, local guides, and Premier World Discovery staff
• Create a fun, safe, and memorable travel experience for every guest
Qualifications & Requirements
• Previous experience leading group tours, hospitality, education, or public speaking
• Strong organizational and time-management skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
• Knowledge of history, culture, and destinations (domestic and/or international)
• Ability to handle group logistics, schedules, and problem-solving on the go
• Professional, energetic, and customer-focused demeanor
• Flexibility to travel extensively, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
• Fluent English is required, additional languages a plus
• CPR/First Aid certification helpful, but not mandatory
• Passion for travel and creating memorable guest experiences
Preferred Experience
• Prior professional experience as a Tour Director, Tour Manager, or Group Leader
• Familiarity with motorcoach, river cruise, or rail-based group travel
• In-depth knowledge of Premier World Discovery destinations and itineraries
• International travel background with multicultural awareness and sensitivity
• Tour Director certification or membership with a professional travel association (e.g., IATDG, IGA, ITMI, NTA, or equivalent)
• Experience managing diverse groups, including senior travelers, alumni groups, and special-interest organizations

DUTIES:
Manage operations, inventory, safety and sales operations, and customer satisfaction reporting and processes. Lead IT and Technology departments, implement new technology solutions to streamline operations and sales. Evaluate and approve usage of current technology stack, prioritizing necessary systems improvements and specifying technical requirements to software developers of original software manufacturer. Lead the identification, assessment, negotiation and delivery of identified, agreed upon, and planned future mergers and acquisitions, including any required operations integrations. Manage Sales and Marketing and implement best practices to improve the selling process, website, marketing strategies, deployment of salespeople across different territories. Co-lead new product development, which includes ideating, securing suppliers, developing, and marketing new tours and products. Lead the company’s strategic planning, which includes identifying new segments or geographies to expand to, as well as cost-saving opportunities and market positioning. Co-lead financial reporting and budgeting. Develop reporting materials and presenting to the Board of Directors, including summaries of the company’s performance, strategic plan, and facilitate major decisions to be taken by the Board. Remote work available 50% of time. Position requires 10% domestic and 5% international travel.
EDUCATION/REQUIREMENTS:
Master’s degree in Business Administration with coursework in Financial Modeling and Corporate Transactions. Candidate must also have completed courses in a computer programming, business analytics, and any engineering discipline at the undergraduate or graduate level; 3 years of experience in a corporate strategy or strategy consulting role; 2 years of experience conducting operations analysis and optimization at a global company, with direct experience in utilizing advanced computer modeling techniques to optimize technical and operational processes; 1 year of experience focused on B2B Sales strategy and Business Development; and 1 year of experience in developing advanced financial models on real-world projects, including Leveraged Buyout and Discounted Cashflow Analysis models to support acquisitions.
