Day 5: hearst castle - central coast wine country Today travel to San Simeon to enjoy a Hearst Castle Tour. The opulent 165-room estate is built on a hilltop overlooking the Pacific Ocean and features spectacular grounds and the world-class art collection of newspaper magnate William Randolph Hearst. The visit features the estate grounds, various rooms, and a film. This afternoon marvel at the coastal scenery as you explore Central Coast Wine Country for a Winery Visit & Tasting. Learn about winemaking in this premier wine region known for its intense maritime influenced varietals such as Pinot Noir, Chardonnay & Cabernet Sauvingnon. Later return to your hotel for an evening at leisure. (B) Day 6: solvang - santa barbara - los angeles This morning travel south and discover picturesque Solvang, the “Danish Capital of America” and famous for its authentic Danish-style architecture, windmills, and pastries. The town was highlighted in the 2004 wine-lovers’ movie, Sideways. Enjoy some time browsing the shops and have lunch on your own in this charming European-village setting. Later head south along the coast and arrive in the affluent beachside town of Santa Barbara, or “The American Riviera” for a photo stop. Continue to Los Angeles and check in to your hotel for your final overnight. This evening enjoy a Farewell Dinner with your fellow travelers to trade stories and memories from the week. (B,D) DAY 1: Arrive Los Angeles Arrive in Los Angeles and meet your Tour Director. Transfer to your LA hotel for a three-night stay. Los Angeles is globally recognized for its entertainment industry, year-round sunny climate, and iconic coastal lifestyle. Tonight enjoy a Welcome Dinner with your fellow travelers at a popular local restaurant. (D) Day 2: LOS ANGELES - LA City Tour & Oscars Museum This morning enjoy a panoramic Los Angeles City Tour. Visit Hollywood to see the famous Grauman’s Chinese Theatre, and search for your favorite stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Next drive through Beverly Hills, home to high-end shopping on Rodeo Drive and opulent celebrity & movie star mansions. Later enjoy a true LA experience as you visit the Academy of Motion Pictures Museum (Oscars Museum). Open since 2021, it’s the largest museum in the United States devoted to the arts, sciences, and artists of movie-making. Enjoy the Oscars experience where you can hold an 8.5-pound Oscar and see the extensive collection of other movie props and costumes. Dinner is on your own this evening. (B) Day 3: Warner Bros. Studio - Griffith park Observatory After breakfast head to Burbank which is the heart of LA’s movie and TV industry. Enjoy the Warner Bros. Studio Tour featuring a guided tram and walking experience of the historic studio. Explore iconic sets from shows like Friends and The Big Bang Theory. The tour concludes with costumes and props from the DC Universe including Batmobiles and the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Next visit the Griffith Observatory, an iconic landmark of the City of Angels. The Observatory, located on the south-facing slope of Mount Hollywood in Griffith Park, commands views of the entire Los Angeles Basin including the Hollywood sign & the Pacific Coast. Before you leave be sure to take a selfie with the James Dean Bust. Return to your hotel for an evening at your own pace. (B) Day 4: LA - central Coast by rail This morning transfer to downtown Los Angeles and arrive at Union Station, which opened in 1939 and features a beautiful blend of Mission and Art Deco architecture. Board the Pacific Surfliner Train operated by Amtrak for an almost 5-hour ride to San Luis Obispo in the heart of California’s Central Coast, known for its scenic coastline, world-class wine and charming seaside towns. The comfortable rail experience offers stunning views of the Pacific Coast and travels through Vandenberg Space Force Base (formerly Air Force Base) where you’ll get a rare up-close look at one of the world’s most active spaceports including launchpads. Arrive in San Luis Obispo and transfer to your hotel for a two-night stay in Pismo Beach. Later enjoy dinner with your fellow travelers.
